This weekend we celebrated Blake and Jace's birthday in a combined, Dr. Seuss themed party! It was so much fun to plan and the party was even more fun!
The idea for the Dr. Seuss party came from the ABC book which is one of Blake's all-time favorite books! Steph and I did the ABC's for each kid and listed attributes to describe them.
We had everyone who came to the party write a little note to the boys in their Happy Birthday To You book written by Dr. Seuss. It is a book the boys will grow into, but it will be neat for them to have the memories!
My mother-in-law made Thing 1 and Thing 2 birthday cupcakes! They were so delicious. She is such a WONDERFUL baker! They turned out so cute!
And here are the cookies! I went over and helped make these cookies two nights before the party. They are so fun! We did royal icing this year on our Christmas cookies and decided to do them again for these. We are so glad we did.
Some of the food we had: Green Eggs and Ham pretzels and deviled eggs...
Go, Dog, Go! Hotdogs! Always a hit with the kids...
Truffala Fruit (The Lorax), Green veggies (The Grinch), and Poodles eating noodles pasta salad (Fox in Socks)...
and last, but not least, Hop on Pop Popcorn!
Blake followed Tata around for most of the evening! He sat on the couch with him to eat his dinner!
We did a photo booth with Dr. Seuss props that I printed out and laminated. They were so much fun! As you can tell from these pictures, kids just don't know what to do with them. But the adults enjoyed them! :)
The weather was so nice that we got to spend a lot of time outside. Andy is pushing Blake and Audrey around in the car! Isn't she so sweet?
Birthday cake time! Blake was so excited for birthday cake all week. This week at dinner when he prayed, his prayer was the following: "Dear God... Thank you for the day. Thank you for cake. Amen."
Opening presents!
Blake really enjoyed his Uncle Jordan and Clarissa!
Over-all, the party was a hit! It is always fun to have your close friends (who are able to make it) there to celebrate and have a good time! :) I think we have just as much fun as the kids!

Well gosh, that turned out just adorable!! Love all the ideas you came up with and/or found online!! LOVE the ABC attribute list! So fun! The food displays are some of my favorite from the parties you put on! They are so fun and creative and just go along with the theme perfectly! You should plan parties for people as a side job(haha...what time, right?) The props for pictures was a blast to see! The kids's ideas of what to do with them were hilarious! Looks like the boys had a blast!!! Great job you two and can't wait till October to see another fabulous party! :)
ReplyDeletePinterest is definitely the one to credit! Its just the greatest for ideas! :) It is always fun to plan! MISS YOU!!!!
DeleteThat is so cool that you can do Blake and Jace's parties together! How fun that they are almost exactly a year apart. I have been seeing you and Steph's pins on Pinterest recently and have been waiting anxiously for pictures of this party. And it definitely did NOT disappoint. Great job with EVERYTHING! I know that parties like this take so much planning and time but the looks on the boys faces look like it is totally worth it! Great job on everything!
